Our last Conscious Cocktails of the year, “Surviving 2020: Tell Us Your Story.” It was the Conscious Cocktails virtual holiday happy hour! Eboni Adams Monk, C3MD’s president, welcomed everyone and Tracy Turner hosted us through the fun event. We wanted to hear what helped people through this very unique year. And, wow! Did they ever deliver. In the fashion of “show and tell,” people shared what helped them get through, how they reframed their experience of “hardship and challenge” into blessings and opportunities. We invited people to bring a prop, be creative, bring a book, a friend, a pet, or a movement. Among the stories told, we heard:
Appreciation for C3MD, friends, neighbors, families, spouses, and children. Time. A chance to slow down. Being home. Reading. Pets. Work and coworkers. Learning how to balance work, family, and just life in general. Taking a moment to reflect on what we’re grateful for. A reminder that there are good people in the world. And just how lucky we are. More gratitude. Journaling. Communities. An increase in giving. Peloton. Watching Netflix. Appreciating the opportunity to be outside more. Hiking. Walking. Nature. Meditation. The expansion of communication through Zoom. Grateful for the awareness and challenges COVID-19 has brought. Thinking about our own legacies.
