On Thursday, October 29, 2026, authors Raj Sisodia and Nilima Bhat shared the ideas behind their new book, Healing Leaders, at the Inspiration Consciousness School and Community in Owings Mills. It was an inspiring evening, and I’m delighted to share a few of the highlights with you.

The Story Behind the Book
It was wonderful to hear Raj and Nilima share how the book came to be. Raj explained that the ideas first came flooding to him during a silent retreat. He then partnered with Nilima to expand those ideas into seven steps. Their goal was to help leaders become as successful on the inside as they are on the outside. By doing this inner work, leaders can heal themselves and their organizations rather than unintentionally harming them.
The Seven Steps to Healing Yourself
Healing Leaders is a self-awareness book about healing and finding yourself. It guides you to look at your past, present, and future selves so you can become the best version of you. The seven steps are:
- Know Yourself
- Love Yourself
- Be Yourself
- Choose Yourself
- Express Yourself
- Complete Yourself
- Heal Yourself
Each step leads into the next, and the process is a continuous cycle, because leaders are always learning and evolving.
Mapping Your Journey on a Wheel
Before Raj and Nilima walked through the seven steps, they handed out a worksheet to help each of us see where we are on our own healing journey. The worksheet was a circle with seven spokes, like a bicycle wheel, with each spoke representing one step. As they spoke about each step, we rated how well we were doing on a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 (the lowest) at the center of the wheel and 10 (the best) at the outer edge.
Holding Ideas with Open Hands
Raj and Nilima explained that their ideas are not a brick wall, where removing a single brick brings the whole thing down. Instead, they hold their beliefs like open hands: gently, and with the understanding that ideas can change and evolve, just as we do.
Nilima put it simply: “You can die un-lived.” Both authors want every person to live fully, find joy in life, and be their best self.

My Takeaway
At the end of the night, after scoring each step, we could see how balanced our wheels were. Mine wouldn’t roll very easily, which was an honest and helpful reminder of where I have room to grow.
If you’re feeling burned out, exhausted, or disconnected from yourself or your work, I highly recommend this book. It may help fill you back up with a renewed love of rediscovering yourself.
