Corporate and organizational culture has been getting a lot of media attention of late…and it is quickly becoming a primary consideration for employees when choosing where to work and spend their time. After all, we do spend an average of 35% of our waking hours at or doing “work” (for some of us, much more).
What does a healthy and thriving workplace culture look and feel like? Have you experienced this for yourself or seen it elsewhere? What are some common themes and characteristics? What can we all do to help bring our own workplaces closer to this ideal?
We invited panelists Jeff Agnor, a founding partner of Davis, Agnor, Rapaport & Skalny and Wendy Slaughter owner and founder of The Wendy Slaughter Team at VYBE Realty to help us explore the importance of fostering a healthy culture for C3MD’s June virtual Coffee & Collaboration.
DARS Law recently redesigned a new 20,000-square-foot space, which includes a central gathering space that helps to build community and inspire collaboration internally and externally. Monthly team-building activities – from game nights to golf outings and themed happy hours – to their “UCareWeCare” program which encourages employees to nominate a charity close to their hearts to receive a donation, are just some of the ways they foster a more conscious business culture.
Wendy says, “I always joke that ‘it’s not about the real estate.’ The truth is, the work we do is about meeting people where they are, making people feel seen and understood and then working with them, shoulder to shoulder, as a trusted advisor. We value diversity, inclusion, wellbeing and self-awareness. We work that way inside our company, with each other and that spills out into the world, when we work with clients or engage in our community.”
