“Got a Business? Make it Conscious” Workshop Series: Week 5

To finish out our five-part Conscious Business Workshop Series, Conscious Capitalism Central Maryland (C3MD) explored each of the four pillars and recapped the prior four workshops. The four pillars and workshop themes were: Higher Purpose, Stakeholder Orientation, Conscious Culture, and Conscious Leadership.

Here is a recap of the June 3rd session on Four-Pillar Integration. Special thanks to Mary Jo Neil at Drawn Dialogue for providing the graphic recording.

Wendy Moomaw, C3MD Board President and Conscious Collaboratory Founder, discussed her workshop conscious leadership and how to shift during times of change. She shared how Dan Simons, co-owner of the innovative Farmers Restaurant Group, had to pivot his business in order to survive COVID-19. 

Onyemaechi Nweke Dr.P.H., MPH, Principal, Triconcepts International, LLC, shared information on Stakeholder Orientation. Her guest was Nneka Chiazor, Cox Communications’ Regional Vice President, Government, and Public Affairs. During the recap, she summarized the importance of stakeholders and how their partnership is crucial to success. 

Wendy Baird, President of insight180 Brand Consulting & Design and Sandy Young, PE, CCM, LEED AP; Construction Manager, co-hosted Harnessing Higher Purpose Amidst Change with a small business owner guest panelists: Josh Massey, COO & Co-Founder, Ortus Academy; Liz Richardson, COO/Co-Founder, Indigo Ink; Wendy Slaughter, President/Owner, The Wendy Slaughter Team of Elevate Real Estate Brokerage. They discussed how important higher purpose —the difference you want to make in the world — serves as an aspiration and a compass, particularly during times of transformation. 

Eboni Adams Monk, Director Marketing – W.R. Grace and Vice President C3MD presented with  Christopher Fischer, Director Ag Retail Talent Management – Land O’ Lakes, Inc., Arden Hills, MN about Conscious Culture. In the integration, she stressed how conscious culture is ever-changing creates trust within the company and its partners.
